To help manage infection risk and safety for visitors and residents, we are closely monitoring the official Government advice at https://coronavirus.tas.gov.au and following the recommended precautions and we expect visitors to do the same.
Practising Good Hygiene
- wash your hands often including before and after eating and after going to the toilet
- wash your hands using soap and thoroughly lather it on your hands and wrists for 20 seconds before washing it off under running water
- always cover coughs and sneezes
- use alcohol-based hand sanitisers when you can’t use soap and water
- avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
- clean and disinfect surfaces you use often such as bench tops, desks and doorknobs
- clean and disinfect objects you use often such as mobile phones, keys and wallets
- increase the amount of fresh air by opening windows
Practising Physical Distancing
- keep at least 1.5 metres away from others wherever possible
- avoid physical greetings such as handshaking, hugs and kisses
- practise extra care if you are using public transport
- avoid crowds and large public gatherings
- be aware of and follow the limits for gatherings (see https://coronavirus.tas.gov.au for the latest information)
- stay at home if you have any cold or flu symptoms, seek medical advice and get tested for COVID-19
Isolating If and When Needed
- stay at home if you feel unwell and continue to practise good hygiene

- if you have COVID-19, you must isolate and follow the mandatory directions of the local authorities
- care for any sick person in a single room, if possible
- keep the number of carers to a minimum
- keep the door to the sick person’s room closed
- if possible, keep a window open
- wear a surgical mask when you are in the same room as the sick person
- the sick person should also wear a mask when other people are in the same room
- protect at-risk family members by keeping them away from the sick person e.g. by finding them somewhere else to live while the family member is sick
